Spaced well apart for privacy, our tastefully furnished, comfortable and spacious units are set on the lower slopes of a tree-covered hillside, blending well into the surrounding Miombo mountain woodland. Guests may choose between the larger Lodges for families and friends or smaller Chalets for two.
Our PaMuchakata Restaurant has acquired an enviable reputation for serving delicious food, a blend of Central European and Southern African cooking - the best of the culinary arts of two worlds.
Tucked away amidst the magnificent green hills of Africa, Musangano is a mere three hours drive from Harare and half an hour from the border town of Mutare. It is ideally located for exploring the attractions of the Eastern Highlands like the Vumba Mountains, Nyanga National Park and Honde Valley. When you feel like stretching your legs, there are a variety of activities at hand on site and nearby to suit all ages and interests. Furthermore we offer the rare opportunity to organize trips into the neighbouring communities so that the visitor can get a first-hand experience of the lives of Zimbabweans today.

We have five spacious Lodges with spectacular views over the Eastern Highlands, their homely exterior inviting you to indulge in the comforts inside. You will feel completely at ease in the large living/dining area, tastefully furnished in an ethnic style with a fully-equipped kitchen. Between four and seven guests can be easily accommodated in the two or three cosy yet luxurious bedrooms with ample seating space for all in both the lounge and the outdoor covered porch. If you visit us in the winter, the fireplace will ensure a warm visit, and for summer visitors the covered veranda is a great place to enjoy a braai under the stars.
The living area hosts a large fireplace, perfect for those chilly winter evenings. The kitchen and spacious dining area have all that is needed to prepare and enjoy a delicious meal.

With DStv, a spacious fridge, indoor and outdoor seating areas and set in peaceful natural surroundings, they are the ideal option if you are travelling alone or with a friend or partner. In the evening, you can sit on the covered porch and take in the impressive views of the dramatic granite ramparts of the Eastern Highlands, or enjoy a leisurely stroll to the restaurant and pool area a mere stone's throw away. On those cold winter nights, enjoy an intimate and comfortable evening with your loved ones around the fireplace.
The Chalets, though tucked away into the peaceful natural landscape, are a few minutes' walk from the restaurant and pool area.
The tastefully decorated interior promises you comfort with a seating area, DStv, kitchenette and the promise of warm winter evenings gathered around the large fireplace.

We are proud to announce that Musangano Lodge has added Cuckoo Nature Camp to its accommodation portfolio.The picturesque campsite is an ideal stopover en route to Mozambique, Masvingo, Gonarezhou and/or the Save Conservancy. It is also a perfect location for touring the many attractions of the Eastern Highlands. Embedded in miombo woodlands and surrounded by lovely views towards hilly mountains, the rustic and idyllic camp guarantees a true bush experience for all outdoor lovers. There are 6 sites available for individual campers as well as a larger site for overland trucks with space for more than 8 tents. The campsite offers a free standing kitchen sink for dishes, braai facilities and a campfire for the cooler evenings. Furthermore extra water taps and power points have been installed around the campsite. Our solar powered thatched ablution blocks are spacious, light and airy and surrounded by a stone garden.

The conference room, which is conveniently situated a short distance away from the reception and dining room, can accommodate 20 to 30 workshop participants, and 30 to 50 guests for banquets or receptions. Marked Nature Trails - Enjoy our marked walking trails, ranging from a leisurely one hour afternoon stroll through the woodlands, to a more demanding three hour trek up the surrounding hills and through the local Aloe Route. The area is rich in indigenous tree species and also has an abundant birdlife, perfect for those interested in bird watching.
Swimming Pool, Children's Playground and Outdoor Games - The Lodge boasts a large crystal clear swimming pool with an attached children's paddling pool, ideal for those hot sultry days. It is surrounded by a spacious seating area.
While you soak up the sun in one of our loungers, your children can let off some steam in the imaginatively designed wooden playground situated close by or enjoy some outdoor games.
Mountain and Road Biking - Don't forget your bikes when you plan a stay with us. We have four established mountain and road bike routes around the area on both dirt and tar roads. The distances range from 10 - 65 kms and the scenic trails cross both the Mutare and Odzi Rivers, offering spectacular views of the miombo woodlands and the Nyanga granite ramparts.
Chikundu Game Park - Well worth a trip, this game park has a wide variety of plains game set amongst stunning views of the Nyanga Mountains. If you fancy a guided afternoon drive with the chance to spot some local wildlife, this is a highly recommended visit.
Osborne Dam - Visit the dam, a mere 45 minutes drive away from the Lodge (tar and gravel), for a day's bass fishing, a drive through Osborne Dam Recreational Park and a leisurely family picnic. Picnic baskets can be provided by the Lodge on request.
Musangano Lodge is well placed for day visits to a number of interesting Eastern Highlands attractions.
Golfing - Golfing enthusiasts should try the Mutare Hillside Golf Club with its picturesque eighteen hole course, Bvumba's internationally renowned Leopard Rock Golf Course or the popular Troutbeck Golf Course in Nyanga.
Horse Riding and Hiking - Horse riding is available at both Troutbeck and Leopard Rock and is a firm family favourite. The well maintained botanical gardens in Bvumba provide the perfect picnic setting. For an invigorating day's hiking visit Mount Inyangani and enjoy the unforgettable views from the summit.
Cultural Tours - Take a trip into Mutare for an educational afternoon at the local museum, the National Gallery or Utopia House. The prehistoric pit structures in Nyanga National Park are a fascinating feature as is the trip into the past awaiting you at the rock art sites, such as the 2.000 year old paintings at Diana's Vow.
